CBA Urges Businesses, Groups To List Events
Crivitz-Crivitz Business Association (CBA) is making plans for a busy summer in the village. The Thursday flea markets in the Village Square across from St Mary Catholic Church resume for the season on Thursday, May 25, and will continue until Labor Day.
First of the weekly Movies in the Park will be shown on Wednesday, June 8, and continue through the summer. According to CBA secretary Jolene Huc, who is also Community Education director, there is a full list of sponsors. Showtime is at dusk, about 8:50 p.m, in Littleland Playland Park, which is adjacent to the ball fields and Community Veterans Park. Persons attending should bring blankets or chairs. Free popcorn and water are provided, and for the first week at least, there will be complimentary bags of goldfish crackers. Community Ed is sponsoring the June 8 movie, which is "Finding Dory." Movies will be cancelled in case of rain.
At their meeting on Wednesday, April 19, CBA members chose Ginger Deschane as their representative on Marinette County Tourism Alliance. Liz Chapman, former CBA representative and former Alliance chair, is now representing Crivitz Recreation Association (CRA) on the Alliance.
Thanks went to Carley Goldberg for the Easter Bunny role this year. Huc reported kids had a great time, even with the rain, and the event was well attended. Local merchants provided over 5,000 eggs with prizes.
The annual CBA/CRA banquet was also a great success. Nick Witt was named Person of the Year. The banquet itself raised $1,222.23, and 50/50 and bucket raffles raised $775 for care and maintenance of the tourist booth.
A new community calendar with links between the village, CBA and CRA sites was rolled out this year, but apparently there are still some "bugs" in it, but efforts are underway to get rid of them. Ads on the calendar are $25 each. Businesses and organizations are encouraged to get their events on the calendar to promote their business and Crivitz. Problems with the site should be reported to the village hall or Amanda Popp.
Events coming up are the Red, White and Music event, sponsored by Crivitz Fire Department, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., on Saturday, May 27, the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend at Community Veterans Park. Food and drink will be available, and there will a free bouncy house for the kids. Music will be provided by Haley Grace, The Music jar and Daze 2 Nights.
There are tentative plans to hold an "Art in the Park" event on Thursday, Aug. 10 in connection with Customer Appreciation Days. Businesses can sign up to sponsor coupons or special treats during one of two time slots - 10 a.m. to noon or noon to 1 p.m. So far, plans include free samples donated by Park's Cheese and Candy from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be coffee from Java Lodge and wine from Falling Waters Winery served in the afternoon.
Huc mentioned some Community Ed programs including a card class, Running Club and Free Knitting.
