Laurence A. Greening
Laurence A. "Larry" Greening, 93, of Menominee, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born April 24, 1924 in Peshtigo, to Charles and Esther (Smith) Greening,
after high school, he served in the United States Army during World War II and later at duty stations in Japan.
After discharge, he worked in Chicago where he met Margaret "Marge" Gerling and they married Sept. 24, 1949 in LaGrange, Ill. His work took them to locations around the country returning to Menominee to live.
He worked in Menominee for the former Pfankuch and VanDomelen Furniture Stores and later as an insurance representative for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. In semi-retirement, he worked at Reiswitz Insurance Agency in Marinette.
He loved to golf, was a member of the Menominee Lions Club and was known for his longtime visiting ministry to shut-ins and residents of area nursing homes.
He is survived by a son, Mark, of Menominee; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Greening of Marinette; three granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret and a son, Richard Greening.
Friends called at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home in Marinette on Saturday, May 13 from 2 p.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. Rev. Scott Ehle officiated with burial in Peshtigo Riverside Cemetery.
