Eleanor C. Brooks, 98, of Wallace, Mi., formerly of Waukegan, Ill., passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at River Breeze Adult Care Center.
Born Nov. 17, 1918 in Waukegan, Ill., to the late Herman and Anna (Anderson) Lossman, she married Robert Brooks in Waukegan in 1940.
An excellent typist and stenographer, she began her career with Abbott Laboratories and later moved to a secretarial position with the Civil Service, at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in North Chicago, Ill.
After retiring, they spent 28 years living in Florida during the winters and moved to the Upper Peninsula in 2005. She enjoyed square dancing, cross-word puzzles, needlework, reading and traveling, especially with the senior group.
She is survived by her husband of over 70 years , Robert of Wallace, Mi.; a daughter, Bonnie Brooks and husband, Lewis Peeples of El Paso, Tx.; a grandson and a daughter-in-law, Jill Brooks of Old Mll Creek, Ill.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marian (Lossman) Atterbery and a son, Robert Brooks.
No services will be held. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson, Mi. is assisting the family.
