Beecher Standoff Ends Peacefully

Marinette County Sheriff's Department reported that at 12:16 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, County Dispatch received a call regarding shots fired from a residence on Smeester School Road between Co. L and Town Corner Lake Road. The news release said they were dealing with an armed, barricaded subject there, and advised people to avoid the area.
The report also expressed belief this was an isolated incident and the community was safe at the time.
Later on Wednesday, a second news release said after successful negotiations by Sheriff's Department crisis negotiators the situation had been resolved. A 52-year-old woman had surrendered and was taken into custody. Her name was withheld pending further investigation. Negotiations reportedly had continued for about three hours. There were no injuries in the incident.
Assisting the Sheriff's Office were Marinette Police Department, Peshtigo Police Department, Pembine Rescue, Beacon Ambulance and Brown County/Green Bay Police Department and their Bearcat.
