John G. Paitl, 71,of Menominee, Mi., passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Rennes Health Care Center-East after a short battle with cancer.
Born April 27, 1946 in Menominee, to the late Joseph and Margaret (Menacher) Paitl, he graduated from Menominee high School in 1964 and served in the United States Marine Corps, stationed in Vietnam. He worked as a printer at the Eagle Star and Eagle Herald for over 40 years retiring in 2008. He loved his family and friends.
A huge sports fan, he loved watching the Packers and Menominee Maroons sports and especially enjoyed their football games while working the chains for many years. An excellent bowler, in 1992 he bowled a perfect 300 game and was an avid golfer, having two holes in one in 2013 and 2014. A member of Resurrection Catholic Church, he also belonged to the American Legion Post 146, North Shore Golf Club, M&M Yacht Club and the Maroon Booster Club.
Survivors include a sister, Peg Radick of New Port Richey, Fla.; a brother, Joseph (Cindy) Paitl of Menominee; three nieces, Chris (Bill) Slocum, Natalie (Mark) Mayerhofer and their daughter, Thea Dausey, Laurie (John) Pesola and their daughters, Maria and Mackenzi Pesola; a nephew, Michael (Jayna) Radick of Indiana and an aunt, Delores Menacher.
Visitation will take place at Anderson Kell Funeral Home in Menominee on Thursday June 8 from 4 p.m. until time of a Vigil Prayer Service at 7 p.m., with Fr. Mark McQuesten presiding. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Friday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Resurrection Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee at 1:45 p.m. with military honors.
