Jeanette A. (Zawalick) Babik, 91, of Sobieski, passed away in her sleep Thursday, June 8, 2017.
Born Oct. 23, 1925, to Felix and Mary (Stodolniak) Zawalick, she married Louis Babik on Nov. 27, 1943 at St. John Cantius Church in Sobieski and he preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1983.
A lifetime, active member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and the Resurrection Choir, served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister and helped with picnics and funeral lunches. She also belonged to the Golden Agers, Little Suamico and enjoyed playing cards with the Senior Group.
An excellent cook and baker, she was an avid quilter, made homemade pajamas for her grandchildren every year, had a green thumb, enjoyed fishing and gardening and was famous for her cactuses.
Survivors include three sons, Richard (Bonnie) Babik, Gillett and Michael (Beth) Babik and Anthony (Joan) Babik, both of Sobieski; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Bernie Zawalick, Green Bay; a brother-in-law, Fritz Janus, Pelican Lake; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Zawalick, Green Bay, Julie Zawalick, Dousman and Violet Babik, Hancock; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; a great-grandson, Tyler Babik; two brothers, Ted Zawalick and Leo Zawalick; three sisters, Alice (John) Ignatowski, Vi Janus and Lorraine "Red" (Daniel) Slezewski and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Al (Rose) Skalitzky, Ann (Gene) Steffy, and Joseph Babik.
Friends called at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Sobieski on Tuesday, June 13 from 9 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., with Fr. Gerald Prusakowski, O.F.M., presiding. Burial took place in St. John Cantius Cemetery in Sobieski. Marnocha Funeral Home of Pulaski assisted the family with arrangements.
