Discussion on GMO Realities at Library
Issue Date: June 14, 2017
Coleman-The Coleman Library, Marinette County Dairy Producers/WMMB, and Marinette County UW-Extension will help better understand GMO's, their usage, environmental impacts, and how to discuss them with others. The event is free of charge and will be held at the Coleman Library on Wednesday, June 21 at 3:30 p.m. This important conversation is part of the "Civility Speaks' series and will allow participants the opportunity to both learn more about a controversial use of technology in agriculture and see how they can discuss difficult topics with others in a constructive manner.
The GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) information will be shared by UW-Extension Ag Agent, Scott Reuss.
The Question and Answer and Discussion portion will be moderated by UW-Extension Community, Natural Resources, and Economic Development Educator Ellen Geisler. The discussion will allow participants to share their views, opinions, and gathered facts in a constructive, mindful manner.
The Ice Cream Social will take place from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m., with the GMO discussion beginning immediately after. Both portions of the day's events are free, with many educational resources available regarding the GMO topic and a few regarding ag in Marinette County. Marinette County's Dairy Producers and the WI Milk Marketing Board will provide the ice cream and fixings.
