Northeast Asphalt Gets Wagner Cold Mix Bid
The Wagner Town Board met June 14. Present were Chair Lynn Hickey and Supervisors Mollie Arthur and Allen Sievert. Others present were Melissa Christiansen (Clerk), Toni Goldschmidt (Treasurer), Jim Hickey (Public Works), Thomas Arthur (Fire Chief), Darcy Hermes, Todd Hermes, Don Willan, Bill Woodward, Will Labunski, Gerard Micksh, Steve Renikow, Mike Caylor, H.H. Anderson, Dale Burie, and Lea Jane Burie.
Chair Hickey presided at 6:30 p.m. followed by flag pledge and approval of agenda.
The Board will attend the WTA district meeting in Middle Inlet on June 15, and will be at the June 21 court hearing on placing sex offenders in towns.
Dale Burie spoke about joining the Coalition to Save the Menominee River and his opposition against the Back 40 mine.
The May 9 monthly minutes were approved with only discussion on the treasurer's report ending May 31.
Fire Department had five calls, car accident, smoke alarm, and three storm damages with total of 17 calls for the year so far and 39 man hours accumulated.
Public Works patched Old Rail Road and small part of Broennenberg Road, gravel patch Ball Park Road, ran dumpsite, cleaned up roadsides for mowing operations and storm damage.
Animal Control had two calls on Caylor Road and County Road X.
The Wausaukee Rescue Squad next meeting June 18, with a few new people joining.
The decision for bid for asphalt for Old Rail Road from County Road X to Borderline Road was tabled to get more information from Rick Rickaby, Marinette County Highway, and Mike Gonnering, Northeast Asphalt, Inc. Hickey will call a meeting. Northeast Asphalt, Inc. was the only bid received for 3,000 tons of cold mix of different grades, price ranged from $125,700 to $143,400.
The Wagner Fire Department By-Laws and any future subtraction and/or additions are to be presented to the Wagner Town Board for approval.
Okayed was renewal of "Class B" Retail License to Kels Kitchen DBA Heritage Inn ending June 30, 2018.
Operator's licenses for Todd Zeutzius, Joelle Schultz, Megan Delaet, Samantha Bell, Elly Piatt, and Allen Sievert also ending June 30, 2018, also a temporary Class "B" Retailers License for Wagner Fire Department picnic on July 29 was okayed, as was an update on handling public nuisances affecting peace and safety. Hickey sent out letters and talked to people about their yards.
Roadside grass cutting started and Building, Public Works will meet with Fire Department members to see different needs and discussed was recycling center/dump alternate hours.
Future agenda items will be Old Rail Road, Fire Department/Public Works building, recycling center/dump. All outstanding bills in the amount of $19,520.90 were paid.
The next meeting is Wednesday, July 12 at 6:30 pm.

The Board gave Northeast Asphalt, Inc. the bid for 3,000 tons of 4LT 58-34S for $138,900.
The Fire Department/ Public Works building, recycling center/dump will be on future agenda.
