Brenda Lee Hoffman, 51, of Falls Church, Va., passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Luther Manor in Marinette.
Born Aug. 9, 1965 in Menominee, Mi., to Burton and Sophia (LaPoint) Hoffman, she graduated from Marinette High School in 1981 and earned a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations in 1987 from UW-Madison.
In 1992, she graduated from Whittier Law School in California where she received a J.D. degree. She also received two Master of Laws (LL.M.) degrees in banking and financial services law from Boston University School of Law in 1995 and later received an LL.M. in securities regulation from Georgetown Law Center.
For the past 20 years until her death, she was an Attorney/Advisor with the U.S. Treasury Department, Bureau of the Fiscal Service, was a member of the Junior League of Washington, D.C. and the Junior League of Parkersburg, W.V. and recently held a license to practice law in Wisconsin, California, Massachusetts, Virginia and Washington D.C.
She enjoyed shopping, time with her cats and family, rowing on the Potomac River and was an active member of a rowing organization for cancer patients in the Washington area.
She is survived by her mother, Sophia Hoffman of Marinette; four uncles, Daniel LaPoint, Francis LaPoint, Myron (Karen) Hoffman and Leon (Jane) Hoffman; two aunts, Mary Ronglien and Sharon (Greg) Baxter and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Burton and grandparents, Francis and Mary LaPoint and Randolph and Irene Hoffman.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Stephenson, Mi. from 4 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 5:30 p.m. Pastor Linda Forray officiated with burial will in Stephenson Township Cemetery.
