Dagny Joan (Hildahl) Rohrberg, 89, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 at Badger Prairie Health Care Center in Verona.
Born April 16, 1928 in Niagra, she lived in Wisconsin all of her life and moved to Marinette in 1952 after receiving a BS in Art Education from UW-Madison, where she met her future husband, William.
She worked as a teacher of Art and English in the Marinette School System for many years at the elementary level and in Marinette High School. She also worked at WMAM Radio writing advertisement copy and public service announcements. After earning a degree in Library Science at the UW-Oshkosh later in her life, she worked as a librarian at Stephenson Public Library.
Known and loved by for her sense of humor, passion for art, music and theatre, she had a warm spirit and caring nature for her friends.
She volunteered at Pioneer Presbyterian Church, Theatre on the Bay, led the Homemakers Group and organized and conducted the popular "What's Next" singing group.
Surviving family members include two daughters, Amy RohrBerg and Christiane (Rohrberg) Markley; a son-in-law, Wayne Markley; a sister, Lucy (Hildahl) Boner of California and a brother, George Hildahl, of Ohio and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Rohrberg in 1967; a son, Kurt Rohrberg in 1985 and a younger sister, Karen (Hildahl) Brauer in 2009.
Visitation will be held at Pioneer Presbyterian Church, 1947 Riverside Ave., Marinette on Saturday, Aug. 5 from 12:30 p.m. until time of the services at 1 p.m., conducted by Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home. A reception and burial will follow. Donations can be made to the UW Alumni Association, Marinette Historical Society or Camp Bird.
