Name Terry Powers For Touhey Award
The Marinette Catholic Central Foundation announces that Terry Powers has been selected as the 2017 Touhey Award recipient. Employed by Ram Electric he has shared his electrical experience at the school by doing the lighting in the gym and school and the electrical hookups for the Auction for years.
Powers has volunteered countless hours coaching baseball, JV basketball and community sports. He has assisted the St. Thomas Aquinas Academy in numerous fundraisers especially at the Waterfront Festival and various school projects like remodeling the locker room.
The honorary award is named after Sister Mary Xaviera, the former Mary Touhey, who was one of the five original graduates of the high school who later founded the first college for women in Maine. The award is given to an individual who best exemplifies the ideals of Catholic education and who exhibits a Christian insight to living, pro-active service in promoting Catholic schools, and a commitment to working for the betterment of school and community.
The evening of recognition will be Saturday, Oct. 28 at Little River Country Club from 6 to 9 p.m. Cost of $20 includes hors d'oeuvres, plus cash bar. The event is open to the public with an RSVP and check to MCCHS Foundation, PO Box 762, Marinette.
