Jerome P. Murphy
Jerome "Jerry" P. Murphy, 76, of Stiles, passed away Saturday morning, Sept. 2, 2017 at his home while being cared for by his sister, Rosalie.
Born Jan. 28, 1941 in Green Bay, the seventh child of Mark and Zoe (Younger) Murphy, there were 10 boys and four girls in the family.
He and his brother Bob had a corporation when he was 18 years old, selling farm crops across the country. A union millwright in Local 1146, he worked with his father and nine brothers in various paper mills throughout the United States and was proud to work for the Boldt Company of Appleton for 38 years.
He was raised on a large dairy farm and owned a farm raising registered Black Angus cattle and selling grain along with being a millwright. He enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques, furnishing his spotless home and always had a dog which he spoiled.
Survivors include three sisters, Margaret (Ronald) Janousek, Kathleen (Alfred) Glish and Rosalie Murphy; five brothers, Thomas, Paul, William, Vincent and Patrick Murphy and many nieces and nephews whom he was proud of.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Mark, John, Robert and Peter Murphy and an infant sister, Patricia.
Visitation with the urn present will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Stiles on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 10:30 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Fr. Joel Sember will officiate with burial n the Parish cemetery. Jones Funeral Service of Oconto Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.
