Marty Flom Benefit at Crivitz on Sept. 23
A benefit for cancer patient, Marty Flom, 57, of Marinette, will be held Saturday, Sept. 23 from noon to 5 p.m. at "I Don't Know Saloon & Grill", N9239 US Hwy. 141, Crivitz.
Flom was diagnosed with stage 2 pancreatic cancer in March and has been out of work ever since. It is questionable as to when or if he will be able to return. He has already had six rounds of chemo and on Aug. 16 he went through a whipple procedure which successfully removed the tumor on his pancreas. However, he still continues to fight his battle with the disease.
A long time resident of Marinette County, he grew up in the Amberg, Wausaukee and Crivitz areas and graduated from Wausaukee High School in 1976. He currently lives in the Marinette area with his wife, Karen and their two dogs. He has two daughters, Jaimie and Renee, three stepchildren, Jessica, Jamie and Nick and 11 grandchildren.
A former worker at Waupaca Foundry and Veriha Trucking, he also ran his own truck through Menards. He was a Crivitz volunteer firefighters and years ago worked at the Gateway Bar and the old Rendezvous Bar in Crivitz.
He loves watching sports and cheering on the Packers. In his spare time, he does home improvements, plays scrabble, and spends time with family and friends.
A $10 donation will be requested at the benefit for free tap beer and food. There will also be an area for children. There will be 50/50, bucket , and meat raffles, and a silent auction to help raise money. The public is welcome.
The family thanks everyone for their support throughout the rough times. Call Renee at 715-927-4582 with questions.
