Brian K. Friebel, 50, of Suring, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 after a courageous and short battle with cancer, surrounded by family.
Born Sept. 27, 1966, to Lyle and the late Marlene (Van Nuland) Friebel, he was raised in Kaukauna and served in the United States Navy aboard the USS John F. Kennedy Aircraft Carrier from 1985 to 1988.
He moved to the Suring area in 1997 where he met his future wife, Mindi Audley and they married on June 24, 2000 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc. He recently worked at KNT Fabrication until he became ill.
He enjoyed music, camping, fishing, playing Guitar Hero and driving his Harley-Davidson with his wife and special friends Steve and Michelle Heckl. He was creative in his shop at home with family, friends, and neighbors spending time competing into the early morning hours.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Mindi; three children; Brandon (Krista) Friebel-Probst, Paige Friebel and Tanner Friebel; two grandchildren; his father, Lyle Friebel; a sister, Deana (Dan) Binder; in-laws, Mark (Peggy) Audley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mitch (Christina) Audley and John (Marci) Rosine; many nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by an unborn son; his mother, Marlene Friebel; his grandparents, Harry and Ethel Van Nuland; uncles, Eugene Friebel, Bob Van Nuland; aunts, Roseann Toonen, Donna Van Nuland, Judy Leffel.
Per his wishes, no services will be held. He did not want those who knew him to mourn, but to celebrate his life, so a private ceremony will be held. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home of Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
A fundraiser sponsored by Brooklyn Lanes Bar and Grill and Wichman's BP Gas Station to assist the family with medical bills and expenses will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017 at Brooklyn Lanes Bar and Grill, 235 Peshtigo Brook Road, Suring from 12 p.m. until closing.
