Bertil C. Johnson, 90, of Carney, MI., passed away Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born Oct. 28, 1926 in Iron Mountain, MI., to the late Peter Gustaf and Hulda (Bowman) Johnson, he married Arloene Carlson in Iron River, Mi. on Nov. 19, 1963. He farmed and worked for the United States Postal Service as a sub driver in Carney and then worked full time in Ironwood, Mi. for three and a half years. He also drove bus and delivered food for the Senior Center and worked at Wendrick's Truss.
A member of Carney Evangelical Free Church, he had a servant's heart, enjoyed helping others, loved peeling apples and preparing bird feed for his wife to feed the birds.
Survivors include his wife, Arloene of Carney; a daughter, Doris "Dori" of Hermansville, Mi.; a son, Davis (Lucy) Carlson of Stephenson; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bob Carlson; a sister, Hildur Hayes and two brothers, Elmer and Glenn Johnson.
Family received friends at Carney Free Church on Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 2 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 4 p.m., with Rev. Kit Bogan officiating. Burial follow in the Carney Free Church Cemetery. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson assisted the family with arrangements.
