THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Bertie (Bezier) Shafer, 88, of Pembine, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017 at Dickinson County Hospital.
Born Oct. 23, 1928 in Amberg, to the late Elmer and Inez (Mattison) Bezier, she loved being a mother, grandmother and time spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Joe; six children, Joe (Daniela Albidone) Shafer, Debbie (Eric) Coloney, Donna (Ken) Nolan, David (Christine Hjortness) Shafer, Gary (Craig Peterson) Shafer and Greg (Becky) Shafer; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a brother, Doug (Barbara) Bezier.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Abigail and Gregory and two brothers, Claude and Alton.
Visitation was held at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Pembine on Tuesday Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with Fr. Matt Settle officiating. Interment was in the Pembine Cemetery. Memorials are appreciated to the Niagara Food Pantry or Pembine Rescue Squad. Roubal Funeral Home of Wausaukee assisted the family with arrangements.
