Patrick "Brownie" "Peebs" "Weasel" O. Brown, 75, of Newbold Township, passed away Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017 at his home under the care of Ministry Home Health Hospice, surrounded by his wife, family and friends.
Born Saturday, Sept. 26, 1942 in Marinette, to Owen and Mary (Sporrer) Brown, he attended Marinette schools and served in the United States Navy for four years during the Bay of Pigs invasion and Cuban Missile Crisis.
He married Karen Moes on July 1, 1967 in Rhinelander and they had two sons. They later divorced after 16 years of marriage.
He then married Emily Coppenger on Jan. 1, 2011 in Old Town, Fla. and they wintered there since 2005. He enjoyed time with his family, home improvement projects with friends, motorcycle riding, Busch Lite, the outdoors and listening to music.
He worked for 32 years as an equipment operator for the City of Rhinelander in the Water Department and was a jack of all trades. A member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Fanning Springs, Fla., he also belonged to the Rousseau V.F.W. Post #3143 in Rhinelander and was a life member of AMVETS Florida post #222.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Emily of Janesville; four sons, Corey (DeAnna) Brown and Shannon Brown, both of Janesville, Trent (Roxanne) Coppenger of Rhinelander and Tal (Colleen) Coppenger of Appleton; a daughter, Jerin Coppenger-McRath of Rosemont, Mn.; 13 grandchildren; special friends, Jessie (Ben) Giddings and their children, Lilly and Benny Giddings of Omro; three brothers, Owen (Julie) Brown of Green Valley and Jeff (Candice) Brown and Jimmy (Julie) Brown, both of Wausaukee; four sisters, Barb Menard of Las Vegas, Nv. and Kathy Phillips, Theresa (Mike) Szydel and Sharon (Roger) Johnson, all of Wausaukee and nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Russell Phillips.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Hildebrand Russ Funeral Home of Rhinelander is assisting the family with arrangements.
