Julie Lynne (Kamka) Kirby, 55, of Glenview, Ill., formerly of Peshtigo, passed away Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, after a battle with cancer.
Born in Menominee, Mi., she grew up in rural Peshtigo and graduated from Peshtigo High School as Salutatorian in 1980.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University in 1984 and a Masters of Business degree in Administration from Boston University in 1989.
She worked at Patterson Company, Inc., Jordan, Ross and Rose Advertising and was also a substitute teacher at Glenbrook High School District 225.
A member of Glenview Concert Band as a clarinetist, she belonged to
Immanuel Lutheran Church where she composed and arranged music for church and Hawaiian Symphony. She began playing the organ for church
at age of 10 and became a piano accompanist for students in the Glenview community. She was a board member for Glenbrook South Instrumental League, Glenview AYSO, Glenview Titans Fastpitch and Cub Scouts.
She is survived by eight children, Allison Kirby (Travis Hoying), Ryan Kirby, William Kirby, Timothy Kirby, Bradley Kirby, Michael Kirby, Erin Kirby and Luke Kirby; her parents, Vilas and Sharon Kamka; four siblings, Kurt (Noreen) Kamka, Wendy Kamka, Jon (Kathy) Kamka and David Kamka and many cousins; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey in 1960.
Visitation will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1850 Chestnut Ave., Glenview, Ill. on Sunday, Nov. 12 from 1 p.m. until time of the services at 3:30 pm.
