Virginia M. Diamond
Virginia Mary (Doran) Diamond, passed away Monday afternoon, Jan. 29, 2018 at Rennes Health Care Center-West in Peshtigo after a valiant struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Born in Menominee, Mi., to the late Herbert J. Doran and Anne Laurin Doran, she attended the former Boswell and St. Anne's schools, graduating from Our Lady of Lourdes High School. She also attended classes at UW Extension and the former Marinette Vocational School. She worked in the insurance industry prior to her marriage to Robert J. Diamond of Marinette in 1950. She later worked at the Bell Store in Marinette prior to its closing in 1989.
She was involved in her children's schools, St. Anne's Society and the Catholic Woman's Club, was an avid reader, music lover, gardener and loved to travel, especially to the East Coast.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary (Gregory) Johns and Patricia (Anthony) Linczeski, both of Marinette; a son, James (Julie) Diamond of Woodstock, Ill.; five granddaughters; a grandson; two great-grandsons and a niece and six nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents and husband, Robert, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert G. Diamond of Los Angeles, Ca. and three sisters, Dorothy Doran Halminiak, Jane Colvin Race and Patricia Doran.
Private services were held at Resurrection Parish in Menominee on Friday, Jan. 26 at 10 a.m., with Rev. Brad Sjoquist officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery. Thielen Funeral Home of Marinette assisted the family.
