Thunder on a Roll; Claim Four More Wins
The M&M Thunder went 4-0 over the course of the weekend, defeating Marquette/Negaunee twice on Sunday, Feb. 11, also beating Dodgeville and Verona.
The games against Marquette/Negaunee finished 3-1 and 8-5. In the first game, Wes Knutson got two goals, while Jeremiah Phillips had one. Cole Jersey added an assist, as did Brandon Bruning.
Braeden Park saved seven of eight shots he saw.
In the second game, the Thunder led 3-2 after a period and went into the third period up 5-4 before a 3-1 third period.
Phillips had three goals, Justin Netemeyer had two with three assists, Cole Hersey had a goal with three assists. Cade Fernstrum got a goal, Jacob Pantti had a goal and assist and Knutson had a helper.
Park saved 24 of 29 shots faced.
Against Dodgeville on the road on Friday, the Thunder blanked their opponents in an impressive 7-0 win.
Cade Fernstrum scored two goals, while Jersey, Phillips, Pantti, Jason Bruning and Logan Ryan each had one. Knutson and Bruning had two assists each, while Matthew Swenson, Nick Kehoe and Jason Walk all had an assist apiece.
Park only saw nine shots and he saved them all for his second shutout of the season.
Saturday was a game of torrid pace, ending 10-8 in favor of the Thunder, who scored six in the first period and held on for the win.
Justin Netemeyer, Phillips, Jersey and Knutson had two goals each, while Jason Bowers and Fernstrum had one apiece. Jersey got four assists and Phillips, Knutson, Jason Bruning and Bowers got two each.
Park saved 68 percent of the shots on him, saving 17 of 25.
