Athelstane Clean-Up Days are May 5-6

The Town of Athelstane regular monthly meeting was called to order by Supervisor Harold Tesch on Tuesday evening Feb. 13at 7 PM in the town hall. All officers were present except John Dobratz. There were 12 people in attendance. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Harold Tesch verified the meeting notices were posted.
David Jose motioned to approve the agenda
Greg Reinhardt commented that Harold Tesch, on behalf of the town board, surprised Gweneth White on her 99th birthday with a card, a cake and a gift card. White was treasurer of the Town of Athelstane for many years.
Tricia Greben, Marinette County Supervisor said there are grants available for high-speed internet in this area. They need to express an interest and get broadband certification.
Jose motioned to accept the minutes as presented with a correction in the Public Works report to not plow the snow across the roads if plowing own driveways.
Jose also motioned all bills with checks numbered 15343 thru 15409 were accepted and approved.
Fire Chief Scott Durian gave the fire department report. The department had one meeting and two training meetings.
The Planning Commission met on Feb. 6 with five members present and one guest. Jose nominated Scott Durian as chairperson of the Planning Commission and all agreed. They also discussed the wording on the Eyesore ordinance. A motion was made to eliminate the minimum dwelling size on the Building ordinance and it will be recommended to the town board for approval. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6 at 6 PM.
Greg Reinhardt gave the Treasurer's report: December 31, 2017 Balance $648,659.97, Receipts to number 3472 $928,992.80, Disbursements $354,742.02, Month ending Jan. 31, 2018 $1,222,910.75.
$4,488.03 in Checking, $270,562.14 in General Money Market, $831,719.25 in Tax Money Market, and $116,141.33 in Certificate of Deposit, totaling $1,222,910.75
Jose motioned to accept the Treasurer's report.
Public Works employees reported they are maintaining all the trucks and equipment, checking the roads and sanding as requested.
Under old business the Sheriff issued a citation to a resident on Perch Lake Road for dogs running a large and the town sent them a letter for not having dog licenses and evidence of vaccinations.
In new business Jose motioned to approve the Deer Lake Assessors Plat and have the Chairman and the Clerk sign the original; and to have the Athelstane "Clean Up Days" on Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 8 am to 4 pm on both days.
Jose also motioned to accept the proposed amendment to Ordinance #5: "Building" - to delete the minimum dwelling size.
There was discussion on purchasing a new dump truck to replace the 2004 International truck. Discussed was to purchase a single axel Kenworth and trade in the 2004 International while it still has trade-in value. Prices and financing options will be available at the next meeting.
