Title Bid Alive
The Coleman Cougar guys traveled to Oneida Thursday night to take on the Thunderhawks. A pretty important match up considering the Cougars sit a game out from Crivitz. The Cougars fought like they meant it and came away with a 77-59 win over the Oneida Nation boys.
Coleman started strong and refused to relinquish their grip on the reins of this game as they exited the first half ahead by ten 31-21.
The scoring pace accelerated over the second half as the Cougars fired in another 46 points to the Thunderhawks' 38.
Cole Woulf, lead all scorers with 26 points while teammate and most recent member of Coleman's 1,000 point club, Austin Marquardt, plugged out another 14. Aaron Fraser followed up with 12 points while Cayden Bintz chipped in 11.
Oneida's Ryan King also topped all scorers with 26 points and was followed by Seth Charles who registered 13.
STAA Takes Win
The St. Tomas Aquinas Cavalier took a 67-62 win over the visiting Niagara Badgers Thursday night.
The Shootout was highlighted by a handful of first half three pointers by STAA's Tyler Stuart. Stuart's accuracy showed from behind the arc as he sunk five three point buckets.
Also showing displaying his abilities in the realm of accuracy was Jack Farley who hit five two point buckets and three free throws over the first.
By the end of the match Farley had amassed 29 points in total while Stuart finished with a total of six three pointers for 26 points.
Alex Hagerty piled up 21 for his Badgers while Austin Hagerty chipped in 17 to the effort. Ben Oratch got 12 on the night.
The Wausaukee Rangers took a resounding 74-54 win over the hosting Lena Wildcats Thursday night.
Behind a strong push by Colby Borchert and Chantz Rowell the Wildcats found themselves ahead at the half 32-26. But that all changed over the second half.
Wausaukee exited the locker room with a renewed gameplay and it showed as 48 points were fired in by the Rangers over the closing minutes while the Wildcats managed to post an additional 22.
Tyler Gruszynski led all scorers with 25 points while Matthew Delfosse chipped in 17. Brandon Shigouri added on 10 points.
Lena was led by Borchert with 14 points.
The Marinette Marines cruised to a 30-point victory over the Clintonville Truckers on senior night to stop a two-game losing streak.
The Marines excelled on offense in the first half to take a 39-26 lead into the break, coasting to a 71-41 win.
Jake Poetzl scored 20 points to lead all scorers, while Matt Wagner and Jordan Wendt got 16 each. Walker Stroming added seven.
No Trucker finished with more than eight points. Samuel Wittman was the team's leading scorer with eight. Aiden Polzin and Matt Morse had seven each.
The Peshtigo Bulldogs took care of business against Gibraltar on Friday, Feb. 16, running away with the 65-27 victory in a game that saw no Gibraltar scorer eclipse six points.
Peshtigo held Gibraltar to 26 percent shooting from the field on just 38 shots. Gibraltar also went 3-11 from behind the arc and 4-10 at the free throw line.
The Bulldogs also dominated Gibraltar on the boards, grabbing 34 to Gibraltar's 17 and allowing zero second chance points.
Ryan Murphay scored six points on 2-7 shooting for Gibraltar and was the team's leading scorer.
Peshtigo, on the other hand, had seven players score at least six points. Trent Carriveau hit two three-pointers and finished with 12 to lead all scorers. Mitchell VanVooren and Reid Marquardt had nine apiece, Max Neumann had eight and Nick Nielson chipped in seven. Both Cameron Noffke and Breyden Demmith had six.
