Sherry Kamps, 80, of Howard, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 at home with her husband and family by her side.
A 1954 graduate of Oconto Falls High School, she married James Kamps, Sr. on May 11, 1957 and they enjoyed nearly 61 years together.
She was a great person and natural caregiver that loved taking care of others. She managed the health care of her in-laws, Henry and Josephine Kamps and her step-mother, Mary Plouff. Along with caring for them, she and her husband also volunteered at Manor Care Nursing Home.
She said if she could do life over, she would be a nurse. Even without a degree, she learned a lot and did whatever she could to care for others. She was fussy about the inside and outside of her home and sometimes swept the curb. Everything had to be perfect with her home and her yard being beautiful all the time.
She is survived by two children, Katheryn (Mitchell) Bratz and James (Linda) Kamps Jr.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol (Ron) Francois; brother-and sister-in-laws, Donald (Betty) Kamps, Robert Kamps, Beatrice (Rick Calawerts), Linda (John) Plouff, Sharon Kamps, David (Becky) Kamps and Sharon Tomchek.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rueben and Cecelia Plouff; a sister, Jacquelyn; her step-mother, Mary Plouff; in-laws, Henry and Josephine Kamps; a brother-in-law, Henry Jr. Rodger; three sisters-in-law, Elaine (Louie), Joyce and Ginny and many aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Green Bay Chapel on Friday, Feb. 16 from 3 p.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 6 p.m. Interment will be private.
