Alvina E. (Nelson) Kumhala, 101, of Oconto, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at Woodland Villages in Oconto.
Born March 7, 1916 in Suring, to the late Nels and Anna (Pautz) Nelson, she married Sylvester "Jack" Kumhala in 1937 and he preceded her in death on April 9, 1967. She worked at Elliott Glove Co. For 28-1/2 years until retiring.
A member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oconto, she served on the church council, was Sunday school superintendent and teacher, officer and member of ladies aid, L.L.L. and LWML. She also volunteered at Bethesda Thrift Shop, Riverside Nursing Home and Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Kenneth) Woodworth, Oconto and Barbara Krause, Green Bay; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thomas Krause; 11 brothers and sisters and a great-grandson, Bradley Nealon.
Family received relatives and friends at Zion Lutheran Church in Oconto, from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6. Rev. Curtis DeCoste officiated with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Oconto. Gallagher Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
