Faye Menke, 93, of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 at home.
Born Aug. 18, 1924, to J. Wesley Schaal and Jennie (Dyke) Schaal in Gillett, she graduated from Gillett High School in 1942 and attended North Central College in Naperville, Ill. from 1942 to 1944. She then graduated from University of Wisconsin in 1946 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She began teaching in Stephenson from 1946-1948, then taught Home Economics in Milan, Mi. from 1948-1949.
On June 16, 1949, she married Charles Menke in Gillett and they lived in Leslie, Mi. for three years where she taught at and attended Michigan State University.
They returned to Stephenson to raise their family. Her husband passed away in 1976. In 1987, she married Phillip Dahlberg and he preceded her in death in 2000.
A skilled tailor of fine clothes and a craftswoman, she appreciated many medias. She was a member of Stephenson United Methodist Church where she was involved in the United Methodist Women. She loved music and played the organ at the church for decades.
She is survived by three sons, Verne (Susan), Scot (Ruth) and Todd; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Allyn in 1967; her husband, Chuck in 1976 and her husband, Phil in 2000.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 11 at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Stephenson from 2 p.m. until time of a Prayer Service at 4 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, March 12 at Stephenson United Methodist Church in Stephenson from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jim Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Mellen Township Cemetery in the Spring.
