Crivitz Village Board Awards Repair Contracts

Issue Date: March 29, 2018

During a meeting of the Village of Crivitz Board of Trustees on Tuesday, March 20, the Board approved and accepted the counter offer from John Harper for financing of $14,400.50 for the instillation of a sewer lateral on his property off Hwy W. The financing will be for 7 years at 4% interest which will result in a lien being placed on his property by the village. The village originally assessed the amount of $14,400.50 that would be due to cover the cost of the instillation and offer Harper a 5-year payment plan at 6% interest. Harper appeared at the Village of Crivitz Utilities Committee meeting held on March 15th to make a counter offer to the Board of 7 years at 4% which was accepted and passed by the Board.

The Drainage problem on Wilbert & 8th Alley which was discussed at the Public Works meeting on March 15th was addressed, and the Board voted to accept the contract with Richlen Excavating for the repair. Glen Franzen of the Public Works and Utilities for Crivitz was present at the March 15th meeting to give details regarding the drainage issue. Franzen explained to the Board that every spring when the frost comes out of the ground the town experiences the same problem with this area which is 1 blocks north of the village hall. According to Franzen, last year was exceptionally bad in that they had a block and half of 6 inches of water standing in the road. This water ended up running into a resident's basement and garage. Franzen gave a proposal from Richlen to the committee to install a "Catch Basin" and then add a drain field to it to enlarge the area that can drain the water as fast as possible. The amount of the contract with Richlen is not to exceed $5,525.

The Board set the schedule for the Village 2018 Farmers Market to be held on each Thursday from May 24th through August 30, with an extra market on Wednesday, July 4th. Also approved at the meeting was the acceptance of a proposal from Sharkey's Floral for the purchase and planting of bench flowers at a cost not to exceed $2,450. Flag pole solar lighting will be purchased from the Outdoor Solar Store at a total not to exceed $600 for the north cemetery and memorial tank flag poles in the village. The Board approved payment to Display Sales in the amount of $3, 879 for American Flags to be reimbursed by the Crivitz Lion's Club regarding the USH 141 Lions Club American Flag Project.

Approval was given by the Board on behalf of the Village Fire Department to pay Witt Auto $2,033.70 for repairs to Fire Dept. Unit #1353.

The Crivitz Firefighters Association was granted a temporary class B fermented malt beverage and wine license for the Red, White & Music Festival to be held on Saturday, May 26th at the Crivitz Community Park from 11 a.m. " 11 p.m. Wrist bands will be provided in order to monitor and control underage drinking. An operators license was granted to Devin Thoreson.
