Joyce E. (Sternhagen) Wilhelmi, 90, of Florence, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Florence Health Services.
Born Jan. 6, 1928 in Florence, to the late Frederick and Marguerite (Taff) Sternhagen, she grew up there and graduated from Florence High School. She married Walter Wilhelmi on July 23, 1954 in Florence.
A member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, she was involved with the Ladies Aide, the Alter Guild and also taught Sunday School.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and watching her humming birds, but mostly time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Walter; two daughters, Cheri (Vilas) Schroeder, Peshtigo and Paula (Richard) Leffler, Florence; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Winnie Mindel, Neenah and Nita Derocher, Menominee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark in 2014; a brother, Lloyd Sternhagen; two sisters, Audrey Bailey and Marion Hughes and a grandson, Adam Schroeder in 2003.
Visitation was held at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Florence on Wednesday, March 21 from 9 a.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jason Liebenow officiating. Memorials can be made to St. John Evangelical Church in her name. Jacobs Lundholm Funeral Home of Florence assisted the family with arrangements.
