Crivitz Rescue Squad to Offer Youth Scholarships
Issue Date: April 5, 2018
Crivitz Rescue Squad (CRS) is offering several scholarships to local youth sport organizations for the purchase of safety equipment. The scholarship was started many years ago, by the members of CRS, in an effort to honor the late Carl Gocht.
Gocht, a former EMT with the squad, was well-known to be a Crivitz Wolverines fan. For many years, he showed his support for the student athletes by attending most of the school's sporting events, those at home and away. He dedicated many years of his life to the advancement of various sports for the children of our community. He was always there keeping a safe eye and a first aid bag at many of their events.
Through the efforts of squad members, money is placed in a special account every time the squad is dispatched. This account is held separate from other CRS accounts. Every few years the squad divides these monies, through a grant process, to area youth athletic teams. Teams do not have to be school affiliated. In years past cheerleaders, baseball teams, ski teams, kids hunting organizations, etc, have all applied. Organizations wishing to apply for the 2018 scholarship will fill out an application and return it by April 30.
There will be a short interview process in May. The team members are encouraged to participate in the interview. Donations will be awarded soon after the interview. Applications are available at Crivitz Rescue Squad, 1020 Henrietta Avenue or can download an application from the website at www.crivitzrescue.com/events. If questions call 715-854-7666.
