Russell Christensen, 89, of Suring, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 under the care of his family and Heartland Hospice.
He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with family and friends and enjoyed gardening with his family and wife of over 65 years. He served as a Conservation Warden for the DNR from 1956-1980.
On July 14, 1979, he was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness. With his love of God, neighbor and the promise of a restored paradise, he was motivated to share this hope with the community.
He will be missed by his wife, Arvilla; two sons, Howard (Karen) Christensen and Jeff (Nancy) Christensen; a daughter, Toni (Kurt) Zastrow; a granddaughter and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his father, William; his mother, Clara; a brother, Conrad and a sister, Constance.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 506 N. Chestnut Avenue, Oconto Falls from 1 p.m., until time of the Memorial Service at 2 p.m., with James P. McClure officiating. Interment will take place in Breed Union Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home of Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
