M I To Vote on Clerk/ Treasurer by Appointment

During a meeting of the Middle Inlet Town Board on April 12, members were presented the amended Ordinance 160 " "Appointment of Town Clerk/Treasurer. By Resolution No. 2018 " 1, the Board called
for a referendum question to be presented for a vote at the General Election, Nov. 6th, 2018. Question shall be: "Shall the person holding the office of town clerk/treasurer in the Town of Middle Inlet be appointed by the Town Board?" Motion was made and carried 2 to 0.
A Donation of $100 for the Fire Department was received from Scott and Mari Fohey A letter of "thanks" was sent in appreciation for their support. The "Agreement" document to extend the Life Jacket Loaner Board Program was received from the DNR after Board approval at the March meeting.
The Board reviewed a concern regarding the programmed installation of new exterior lighting at the Fire Station. Board approval was made at the October, 2017 board meeting, however, the project has not been completed. Chairperson Richard Wade indicated he would contact the firm involved and attempt to resolve the issue.
Wade reported the vandalism of a stop sign at the intersection of Camp 5 Road and Moonshine Hill Road. He indicated that Eric Olson temporarily reinstalled the sign and waited until the Marinette Co. Highway Department completed the installation. A special "Thank You" is extended to him. Wade reminded the public of the on- going reward for information/conviction of parties involved in road sign vandalism. He expressed concern regarding the involvement of stop signs.
The Town is currently working with the DNR regarding the proposed replacement of the bridge on Camp 5 Road, just North of Moonshine Hill Road.
A number of frozen culverts (McMahon Road, Raven Road and Bernasz Road) were recently addressed. A compliment was received from East End Mobile Home Park regarding the snow plowing by Road King, and a downed tree on Boat Landing Road was removed by Northeast Tree Service.
The DNR has notified the Town, that the Town Boat launch will have a new concrete launch and piers installed this Spring. The launch will be closed temporarily until the installation is completed. Deadline for completion is set for June 18th. Spring grading of Town roads will be conducted as soon as conditions allow. The Town Board will conduct the annual Spring Road checks as soon as weather permits.
Regarding the Fire Department, Chief Johnston presented a brief report regarding two recent calls " a false alarm regarding a gas leak and a vehicular roll-over.
The Northwoods Recycling Coalition held a meeting of the involved municipalities on April 9, at the Stephenson Town Hall. The Town of Stephenson will provide a contract for the Town of Lake, Town of Middle Inlet and the Village of Crivitz to review and decide to utilize the services of the Town of Stephenson at the Crivitz Recycling site, or pursue other options. Actions should be finalized by the next coalition meeting schedule on May 21, at the Stephenson Town Hall.
Friendly reminder that the "Every-Monday" trash collection will begin with the first Monday in May and continue through the month of October.
