Town Athelstane Lists 5-Year Road Plan

The regular monthly meeting of the Athelstane Town Board was called to order by Supervisor Harold Tesch on Tuesday, April 10, at 7 PM in the town hall. All officers were present except John Dobratz and Gregory Reinhardt. There were 17 people in attendance and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
The agenda was approved.
Supervisor Tesch commented the snowplow contracts ended March 1. The town cannot plow driveways after March 1without permission.
Gary Jobelius asked if the work done on Benson Lake Road was checked for quality. It was and found normal. It will fill the cracks and preserve the edges.
John Walsh had an issue with a dog and the sheriff was called.
Minutes were approved and bills with checks numbered 15474 thru 15524 were approved.
Fire Chief Scott Durian gave his report. They had one meeting, and three trainings, one was an ice rescue training with Amberg. Gary Welsch gave a presentation on Wildland Fires.
The clerk gave the Treasurer's report which showed Feb. 28 balance $551,557.15, Receipts to number 3517 $1,194.49, Disbursements $54,793 and month ending Feb. 28, $$ 497,958.64.
$9,055.45 was in Checking, $270,847.60 General Money Market, $101,404.90 Tax Money Market, $116,650.69 Certificate of Deposit, and $497,958.64 balance.
Public Works employees reported they are maintaining all the trucks and equipment, making repairs as needed.
The 2009 Ford pickup is out of service again and it would cost approximately $20,000 to put a new engine in it. They priced a 2018 Dodge pickup for $25,700 noting they can sell the 2009 Ford pickup for $7,500, which is what it will cost to put a new box on a new truck. The board okayed purchase a 2018 Dodge pickup truck.
The cost of a cemetery grave went up to $250 for residents and $400 for non-residents plus a fee for marking a grave of $100.
Tricia Grebin, county supervisor, was in attendance and she will look into the USDA Community Connect Grant Program to expand broadband access in Wisconsin.
Supervisor Tesch gave an update on "tiny houses", as titled by the State of Wisconsin as travel trailers.
On motion of Harold Tesch, 5-year road Plan was approved. 2018 Flom Road " grind, reshape and gravel; Crack seal: Perch Lake Rd. 2.5 miles, Mathis Rd. .5 miles, Smiley Rd. 1 mile, Benson Lake Rd. "Dolan Lake Rd. to Northway Dr. .5 miles , Newton Lake Rd. 1 mile and Deer Lake Rd. 2 miles.
2019: Northway Drive " TRIP Program " Wedge & double seal coat from Benson Lake Rd to Becker Rd.
2020: North Lost Lake Road " double seal coat over existing seal coat.
2021: Smiley Rd. "double seal coat over existing seal coat
2022: Northway Dr. " wedge & double seal coat from Eagle River Rd. to Becker Rd.
Klavers Lawn Care will cut the grass at the cemetery and the town hall at $380/cut.
Board of Review is May 21, from 10 AM to noon.
An Iron Curtain Filtration System will be purchased for the town hall.
The 2017 Treasurer's Cash & Bank Reconcilement was accepted.
An application for an Alcohol Beverage Retail License for Firelane Bar is subject to the current license holder surrendering their license.
