Betty A. (LeBoeuf) Clark Hanish, 91, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at Anna's Health Care CBRF, surrounded by family.
Born Dec. 16, 1926 in Menominee, Mi., to the late Oscar and Anna (Haines) LeBoeuf, her mother died when she was a Junior in High School. She graduated from Menominee High School in 1944 and met her future husband, Harry Clark, while both working at Montgomery Wards.
On Oct. 7, 1947, they married at St. Ann's Church in Menominee, Mi. They spent 40 years together until his death on Sept. 20, 1987. She then moved to Sturgeon Bay and began her 15-year employment with Bay Pharmacy, working with her family.
She worked as a seamstress for 30 years and was known for her creative talent. In 1976 they moved to Daggett, Mi. to enjoy their retirement.
On Sept. 15, 1994, she married Walter Hanish in Stephenson and he preceded her in death on Feb. 29, 2016.
She lived an enriched, faithful life incorporating strong Catholic values in her daily living and she was a joy to be around with her optimistic view and sense of humor.
She was a good baker and inherited her sewing talents from her mother. She enjoyed hunting, swimming, trailbike riding, snowmobiling, fishing, traveling, gardening, crafting everything, knitting, crocheting, leatherwork, creating afghans for many including the wounded warrior project and loved the outdoors. She and her first husband built special shelving to keep up with all the canning of her gardening vegetables. She was a good athlete and also liked golfing, bowling and camping with the family.
She is survived by three daughters, Donna (Cliff) Hayes and Kathy (Greg) Rohde, both of Green Bay and Bobbie Walker of Sturgeon Bay; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two step-children, Walter (Kris) Hanish of Gulf Shores, Ala. and Peggy (Allan) Isaac of Lompoc, Ca.; five step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Valeria LeBoeuf of Menomonee, Mi. and many nieces; a nephew and their families.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by both husbands, Harry Clark and Walter Hanish; a grandson, Carl Mercier, Jr.; five brothers, Valner (Vi), Jack (Sylvia), Gordy (Helen), Richard (Rosemary) and Donald LeBoeuf and a step-mother, Helen Dulak LeBoeuf.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay on Friday, April 27 from 10 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with Fr. Robert Stegmann as celebrant. Burial will follow the luncheon at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery. A memorial is being established for the Wounded Warrior Project. Huehns Funeral Home, Inc. and Door County Crematory LLC are assisting the family with arrangements.
