Alice Hilda Peterson, 97, lifelong resident of Wallace, MI., passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Luther Manor in Marinette with family around her.
Born Jan. 20, 1921 at home on the family farm in Wallace, she was an active member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church where her grandparents were charter members. She served as a Sunday School teacher and was involved in the quilting ministry.
As a gardener, she loved flowers and was an excellent baker who made many wedding cakes. She enjoyed handiwork and continued her mother's tradition of rug weaving and was also a beekeeper and caregiver for many family members.
Survivors include nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great nephews; great- great-nieces and great-great-nephews who she referred as her kids.
She was preceded in death by six sisters, Agnes Peterson, Margaret Nowack, Elsie Freis, Ethel Swanson, Marian Hofer and Arlene Schwartz, twins, Louise and Arnold and three brothers, Marinus, Ellsworth and Ernest.
Family received friends at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Wallace on Wednesday, May 9 from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Rev. Dave Christenson officiated with burial in Mellen Township Cemetery. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
