Edith "Dolly" Franzen, 95, of Crivitz, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018.
Edith was born June 15, 1923 in Crivitz to George and Ethel (Swan) Franzen. After high school, Edith moved to Chicago where she was employed by Continental Can for 37-1/2 years.
She was a member of the Graphics Arts International Union, Chicago Local 458. She also served as shop delegate and Chairman of the Election Committee for many years. After retirement, Edith moved back to Crivitz where she was a member of St. Mary's Parish as well as the American Legion Women's Auxiliary.
Edith loved to travel and visited every one of the continental United States and Alaska as well. She also toured the Canadian Rockies, Mexico, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Luxemburg. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and crocheting and gave away many beautiful afghans to family and friends.
Edith is survived by a son, Fred Franzen Sr., Crivitz; two grandchildren, Margaret (Stormy) Weathers, Louisville, KY and Fred A. Franzen Jr. of Crivitz; four great-grandchildren, Kasha, Trinity, Lexis Franzen and Stormie Weathers; sisters-in-law, Helen and Dorothy; special cousins. John and Mary Lortie, who were her traveling companions and many nieces and nephews.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Fred, George, Al, Bill and Carl (Coz) and sisters-in-law, Mary, Florence and Janet.
Friends may call at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 808 Henriette Ave, Crivitz on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 9 until 11 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church with Fr. Frederick Sserugga officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Crivitz. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home of Crivitz is assisting the family.
