Martin "Marty" Kadubek, 79, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, Mi.
Born March 28, 1939 in Goodman, to Stanley and Irene Kadubek (Hanson), he graduated from Goodman-Armstrong Creek High School in 1957 and married the former Patricia Estreen in 1960.
After moving to Lake Hilbert, he worked in lumber and woodworking for almost 60 years with most of his time at Goodman Forest Industries and Connor Forest Industries in Laona.
He loved woodworking and shared his creations and skills, from building picnic tables and outdoor furniture in Misawa, Japan to making pasta rollers for shipment to Italy. A rare and true craftsman, he was known for his furniture and cabinet making skills and expertise with industrial wood planers.
An avid hunter and fisherman, his favorite times were those spent in the Northwoods with family at the deer camp, an evening at "the shack" or fishing in Canada with his son and grandson.
He is survived by four children, Laurie (Robert) Giles of River Grove, Ill., Deborah (Mark) Tomack of Auburn, Wa., Brent Kadubek of Gleason and Jayne Kadubek of Lakewood, Wa.; two brothers, Wayne and Wes Kadubek of Armstrong Creek; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nieces; nephews and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Art.
A Memorial Service was held at Armstrong Creek Community Center on Monday, June 18 at 10 a.m., officiated by Pastor David Wilton and followed by a luncheon at noon. Weber Hill Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
