Gust F. Johnson, 87, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at home after a battle with cancer.
Born Oct. 14, 1930 in Wallace, Mi., to the late Jule and Esther (Paulson) Johnson, he served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. On Aug. 22, 1975, he married Mary Chrisman in Aurora and worked at Ansul for 29-1/2 years forging and welding and retired in 1990.
He loved being with his grandchildren, working on tractors, gardening, especially growing garlic, tinkering in his garage, going to auction sales and collecting junk.
A lifelong, faithful member of Bethel Mission Covenant Church, he loved being involved in Bible Studies and sharing his faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Menominee; a daughter, Kelley Johnson of Peoria, Az.; a step-daughter, Kim (Steve) Hohl of Menominee; three step-sons, Rick (Linda) Chrisman of Aurora, Dirk (Cindy) Chrisman of Marinette and Shawn (Candy) Chrisman of Sheboygan; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Chiarenza of Romo, Ill. and Shirley Tymm of Janesville and a brother, Clarence Johnson of Wallace.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amber; a son, David; a brother, Donald and a sister, Eleanor.
Family received friends at Cadieu Funeral Home in Menominee on Monday July 2 from 3 p.m. until time of a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continued on Tuesday July 3 at Bethel Mission Covenant Church in Wallace from noon until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Pastor Mark Duquette officiated with burial in Mellen Township Cemetery with Military Honors.
