
Roberta Morton Issue Date: July 12, 2018 Roberta "Bobbi" (Beechner) Morton, 70, of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018 at home, surrounded by family.
Born Feb. 22, 1948 in Daggett, Mi., to the late Robert and Julia (Horvath) Beechner, she graduated from Stephenson High School in May 1966 and from Mt. Sinai School of Nursing in June 1969.
She worked at Pine Crest Nursing Home while in Nursing School. After graduation, she was employed at Mt. Sinai in the OB GYN Department. On Dec. 6, 1969, she married Dennis Morton in Stephenson and they lived in Milwaukee until returning to Stephenson in May of 1971 where she worked as a RN at St. Joseph Lloyd Hospital and then BAMC, retiring after 40 years on Dec. 31, 2009 as the Med/Surg Director.
They raised a daughter Kristin Morton Havelka, enjoyed three grandchildren and loved her son-in-law Scott, who was like the son she never had.
After retirement she volunteered for BAMSAR (Bay Area Mounted Search/Rescue), PLS (Project Life Saver), 4-H sewing, horse club, handicap horse and the elementary reading program.
She was active in 4-H, especially in 4-H Horse Club, attended exploration days for 10 years as a chaperone and was a member of Bethlehem Covenant Church.
She is survived by her husband Dennis; a daughter, Kristin (Scott) Havelka of Wallace, Mi.; three grandchildren; a brother, Arlyn (Vicki) Beecher of Stephenson, Mi. and a sister, Diane Haines of Milwaukee.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Maus and a brother, Dale Borchard.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 10 at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until time of a Prayer Service at 7 p.m., with Pastor Andrew Stonina officiating. Visitation continued at Bethlehem Covenant Church on Wednesday, July 11 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Stonina officiated with burial in Bethlehem Covenant Cemetery.
