Veronica J. (Schesniak) Torzala, 80, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 17, 2018.
She was born January 9, 1938 in Marinette to the late Frank and Wanda Schesniak of Pound and she graduated from Coleman High School in 1956. Veronica spent a few months working in Milwaukee before she married Julius L. Torzala on May 11, 1957 at St. Leo's Church in Pound.
She resided in the Town of Beaver where she farmed with her husband and two sons until they retired. In addition, to farming, Veronica spent a few of her early years of her marriage working at the Crivitz Nursing Home.
She is most remembered for her beautiful, creative and artistic cakes including wedding cakes. In fact, she spent a number of years working for Piggly Wiggly as their primary cake decorator.
She is survived by her five children: Two daughters, Theresa (Chris Quigley) Charapata of DePere and Jean (Bill) Collins of Middle Inlet and three sons, Jim (Mary) Torzala of Green Bay and Ken and Rich Torzala, who farm on the family farm. In addition, she is survived by 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Torzala; her parents, Frank and Wanda Schesniak; a brother, Ralph Schesniak and a grandson, Michael Charapata.
The family of Veronica Torzala would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the Bellin Hospital and Hospice for their overwhelming compassion, warmth and kindness that they not only gave to our mother, but also her children as we faced the overwhelming challenge of caring for our mother.
We would also like to thank Laurie Tomaszewski for the many years of running errands and picking up groceries for our mother.
Friends and family called at the St. Mary Church in Crivitz on Tuesday July 24th from 9-11am. The service was at 11 am with Father Frederick SSerugga officiating. Veronica was laid to rest following the Mass. Please visit www.rhodescharapata.com to leave online condolences.
