
Audrey M. YetterIssue Date: August 9, 2018 Audrey M. Yetter, 97, of Eagle River (formerly of Sugar Camp, Oak Lawn, IL, and Grover - Peshtigo, WI) passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 after a brief illness.
Visitation was held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Eagle River, WI on Wednesday, July 25, from 10 a.m. until services at 11:30 a.m. A luncheon followed. Interment took place in the Forest Home Cemetery in Rhinelander at 2:30 p.m. where she was laid to rest beside her husband, Wilbert.
Born Audrey Hilda Minna Jacobson on Nov. 13, 1920 to Irvin and Dora (Wagner) Jacobson in Marinette, who farmed in the Grover area near Peshtigo. She was the eldest of four daughters. Sisters Carol, who died in infancy, Jeanette (Russell) Behnke, and Marlis (William) Lee. After graduating high school she attended Stephenson Normal School for teaching credentials before transferring to M&M Hospital upon deciding her true calling was nursing, the profession she pursued her entire working career.
She was swept off her feet by Wilbert George Yetter at a dance in Harmony, and they were married June 6, 1942. The couple farmed in the Grover area and were blessed with two sons; Gerald and Jerome. Eventually the family moved to Oak Lawn, IL. where Wilbert became a building contractor. Their love of the northwoods brought the family back home to Wisconsin in 1958 when they purchased acreage on Jennie Webber Lake in Sugar Camp where they built their new home. Wilbert continued in the construction business building many fine homes along with various commercial projects until his sudden death April 10, 1971.
Audrey worked in the nursing field in Rhinelander, Phelps, and Eagle River until her retirement. She was a dedicated mother who took pride in caring for her home and family. She was an outstanding baker with a gleaming kitchen full of magnificent foods and smells which were enjoyed by a richly blessed group of family and friends.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbert; sisters, Carol and Marlis; brothers-in-law, Russell Behnke and Russell Thurow; and one grandson, Jeremy.
Survivors by sons, Gerald and Margaret (Bolte) of Eagle River and Jerome and Sandra (Wickham) Yetter of Dillon, MT; grandson, Matthew Yetter of Livingston, MT; sister-in-law, Lettie Thurow of Peshtigo; four great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
