George Webb Restaurants To Offer Free Burgers for 12 Game Win Streak
Issue Date: October 11, 2018
A victory on Friday, in game one of the National League Championship Series baseball game at Miller Park in Milwaukee the Milwaukee Brewers would complete a 12 game winning streak. With that 12 game winning streak George Webb Restaurants throughout Wisconsin would offer free hamburgers to everyone.
That program started many years ago as a publicity stunt, but now is a tradition. With 30 restaurants in Wisconsin and the George Webb in Peshtigo as the only franchise located north of Milwaukee that is a big deal. This is a huge undertaking, but the Brewers are red hot and it could be possible according to Matt Levknecht, Director of Operations of Eagle Express Truck Stop and George Webb in Peshtigo.
In preparation for that happening, all George Webb Restaurants in Wisconsin will offer free hamburgers to everyone on Thursday, Oct.18 from 2p.m. to 6p.m. The last time free burgers were given away was in 1987, when over 168,194 burgers were made. At the time 25,000 pounds of ground beef was needed for the burgers as well as 573 gallons of ketchup and 286 gallons of mustard 2,868 pounds of onions and 367,180 slices of pickles.
Levknecht stated, there is a lot of excitement about the Brewers this year and now with the possibility of free hamburgers we are not sure what will happen. It's all up to the team if the promotional program will take place. The Brewers will have to win the game Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers to make that happen. This year, if the Brewers are successful in winning the 12 games in a row, George Webb Restaurants are prepared to purchase over 40,000 pound of ground beef, enough to make 250,000 burgers. It is just very exciting to be a part of the tradition.
George Webb of Peshtigo, will offer a limited menu and several other specials during the four hours of the promotion, according to Levknecht.
