Avis Dorothy (Lueskow) Barofsky, 100, passed away early Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 at Primrose Memory Care in Weston.
Born April 14, 1918 in Menominee, Mi., to Edward and Anna Lueskow, she married Oris Barofsky in Menominee.
She enjoyed reading the local newspaper from front to back, never forgot anybody's birthday or anniversary, always sent cards and her love and participated in many Church activities as a lifetime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She loved to knit, crochet, read and do crossword puzzles.
An avid Packer fan, she attended many games with her husband, Oris, including the Ice Bowl on Dec. 31, 1967. She worked for many years as secretary for the Superintendent of Schools at Menominee Public School District.
She is survived by a son, Robert (Patricia), Wausau; a daughter, Carol (John) Evert, Saline, Mi.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oris; a daughter, Bette; a grandson, Joshua Evert and two sisters, Eleanor Gaugh and Jane Strem.
Visitation will be at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Menominee on Thursday, Dec. 20 from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at noon. Pastor Mark Laatsch will officiate followed by a luncheon at the Church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee. Donations can be made in her memory to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Menominee, Mi. Anderson Kell Funeral Home of Menominee is assisting the family with arrangements.
