Students Make 500 Cards for Elderly

At the Marinette County Elderly Services Committee on Aging on Dec. 12 Chair Ron Meyers presided. Present were Debbie Baumgart, Colleen Risner, Sarah Gospodarek, Joan Rocque, Gilbert Engel, Don Phillips, Director Pam Mueller Johnson, Nutrition Coordinator Avery Steen, Finance Coordinator, Jeff Churchill, Office Coordinator Shelly Menger and Rick Downs.
The 2019 Meal Site contract was accepted at the same rate. They are still waiting to receive the contract from Peshtigo.
About the Title IIIB Service Proposal Contracts there was discussion on how the money helps to support agency programs and expenses.
Steen shared results from recent HDM and Congregate surveys that went out to participants. The results and percentages were very positive, as were comments.
Churchill shared hand outs with discussion on comparisons between 2017 and 2018. He explained how MCES is a United Way funded agency and encourage staff for donations.
Johnson presented plaques to Meyers and Gospodarek and thanked them for their six years of service. Each talked about positive experience serving on the board and thanked everyone.
Rick Downs of Amberg was accepted as a new Board member. The current members were also introduced.
Marinette's Pasty fundraiser was a success and Crivitz did one for Christmas cookies.
The agency did a Caring Tree project. Gifts will go out with home delivered meals.
Approximately 500 Christmas cards were received from elementary children made for the homebound elderly.
