Alice Schiesser, 96, of Hortonville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018 at her residence.
Born Aug. 18, 1922 in McAllister, to the late Carl and Jennie (Kooie) Baker, she married Gordon Schiesser on Dec. 24, 1941 and he preceded her in death in 2001.
She loved to sew, quilt, was an avid scrabble and dominoes player and was an excellent cook, well known for her apple pie. She volunteered at nursing homes by reading, writing letters and giving residents manicures. She also sewed baby quilts for Church, pillow cases for shelters, backpacks for back to school and aprons for the disabled, but mostly loved her neighbors, friends and family.
Survivors include four daughters, Anita (Richard) Slone, Neillsville, Beverly (Ed) Schiesser, Blachly, Or., Elaine Garza, New London and Jannis (Bruce) Pedersen, Plainfeld; two sons, Lloyd (Joan) Schiesser, New York and Raymond (Judy) Schiesser, Hortonville; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; a daughter, Lorrey (Ron) Ciske; a daughter-in-law, Donna Schiesser and eight siblings, Bob, Les, David, Roy, Francis, Edna, Ann and Lily.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5 at United Church of Christ in Dale from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Rev. Steve Davis officiating. Donations can be made to Larsen Winchester Lion's Club and/or ThedaCare at Home Hospice. Cline Hanson Funeral Home of Hortonville is assisting the family with arrangements.
