THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE

Workers were busy Tuesday at the site of the Crivitz Lumber building in downtown Crivitz that was destroyed by fire Tuesday, Jan. 29. Heavy machinery was brought in to cleanup debris and get the lot ready for building. George and Kathy Gocht, who own the business plan to rebuild the store as soon as plans get finalized. Eleven fire departments responded to the fire on one of the coldest night of the year. Cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Crivitz Fire Department. Kathy Gocht stated that people from all over the country had sent them well wishes and hoped they would rebuild, and after getting a renewed commitment from their kids to run the business, George and Kathy decided to move forward and rebuild. Crivitz Lumber has been in the Gocht family since it opened in 1906.
