CBA Announces Persons of the Year

The annual persons of the year awards for the Crivitz Business Association (CBA) will be presented at the annual CBA/CRA banquet on April 15 at Rene's Supper Club. The event is open to the public. Cocktails are from 5-6:15 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m.and awards to follow. Send reservations to CBA, PO Box 202, Crivitz, Wi. Cost is $25 per person.
Adult category honoree is Marge Banaszak for her work with the Crivitz Food Pantry. In making the nomination, Kathy Kantor commented that Banaszak is a strong leader who has the ability to make a vision a reality. The Crivitz Food Pantry recently purchased its own building after using borrowed space for many years.
Youth category winner is Crivitz High School volleyball all state academic team consisting of Lyvia Caine, Morgan VanLanen, Chloe Gruszynski, Morgen Gyger, Saige Nelsen, Tiffany Boesen and Kieran Gribben. In order to qualify for the all state team, the team needed a grade point average of 3.5 or above. According to Missy Gruszynski who nominated them, each girl is a leader on and off the court.
Tom Maye, winner of the Business division as J & T Electric/Cellcom, was nominated by Sally Witt for their support of community projects over the years including the Marinette County K9 project, the Triangle project and the recent flag project in Crivitz as well as many others.
Educator division winner was Candy Deschane, nominated by Rebecca Zillges. She taught special education in Crivitz for many years, ending her career as special education director. She continues to substitute teach and is currently teaching elementary music as well as volunteering at her church and numerous community events.
Several nominations were received for The Wall That Heals. Since the committee did not want to take away from their usual awards, a special recognition award will be presented to the committee, volunteers and the entire Crivitz community for the event.
