Issue Date: April 11, 2019
Betsy (Brockman) Werner, 68, of Oconto, passed away Friday, April 5, 2019 at home after a valiant fight with cancer.
Born Jan. 20, 1951, to Robert and the late Elizabeth (Betty) Brockman in Marinette, she lived in Oconto since graduating from UW-Madison where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. In 1975 she married Michael Werner of Milwaukee at the First Presbyterian Church in Oconto and they had two children.
From a young age, she loved music, was an accomplished pianist and was an Elementary Music teacher in both Oconto and Marinette Public School Systems. The couple owned the Oconto Dairy Queen for 21 years and she also was involved in and supported philanthropic efforts and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oconto. She loved attending and watching Badger Football and Basketball games and the Badger Band, but her pride and joy were her grandchildren. Her faith in God and the love and support of her family and friends were the inspiration behind her courageous battle.
She is survived by her husband, Mike; two children, Emily (Jason) Martin of Oconto and Brock (Stephanie) Werner of Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren; her father, Robert Brockman; two sisters, Robin Ilse Harvey of Marinette and Barbara Guenther of Scottsdale, Az. and many nieces and nephews.
