LaVerne H. (School) Kufner, 90, of Suring, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019.
Born May 9, 1928 in West De Pere, to the late Raymond and Antonetta "Jeanette" (Gerrits) School, at a young age, she moved to Breed. She married Norman Kufner on April 19, 1947 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Suring and they enjoyed 69 years of marriage.
They farmed together for over 40 years and she served as the Town Clerk of Breed for more than 30 years. In 1995, they were given the outstanding senior citizen award from the Suring Area Business Association.
The couple traveled together through most of the United States and providences of Canada. She enjoyed flower gardening, spending time outside, bowling, had a one of a kind personality and was known to be feisty, but adorable. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
She is survived by a son, Norman (Patricia) Kufner of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Evelyn Quandt; 11 grandchildren; a granddaughter-in-law; 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Gustav G. Fosick; four siblings, Hazel Gericke, William School, Earl School and Marvin School and a great-grandson, Gustav A. Fosick.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 10 at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church. Fr. Robert Ni Ni officiated with interment in Breed Union Cemetery beside her husband.
