THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Marinette County Has First Traffic Fatality
Issue Date: May 2, 2019
Brent Allen Recla, 38, of Vulcan, Mich. died Friday, April 26 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, as a result of injuries sustained in a single-car crash on Hwy. 141 in the Town of Niagara shortly after midnight on Saturday, April 13.
Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve said this was Marinette County's first traffic fatality for 2019. Marinette County Medical examiner Kalynn Van Ermen notified him of Recla's passing.
Recla was alone in his pickup truck, westbound on Hwy. 8 in the town of Niagara, when he failed to stop for the stop sign at U.S. 141 and crashed through the highway signs and into the embankment in the west ditch of Hwy. 141.
Niagara Fire and Rescue and Paramedics extricated him from the wreckage and he was treated and transferred to the Green Bay hospital where he eventually passed away.
The Sheriff's Department news release states that alcohol was a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office and Medical Examiner.
