Coleman Recognition Night Held for Seniors

Issue Date: June 6, 2019

Coleman High School held its annual Senior Recognition Night on Wednesday, May 15 when over 50 organizations, businesses, families, and individuals presented scholarships, academic achievement recognition, and athletic awards.

Award recipients are announced. Scholarships were presented to Emily Cudnohosky, the Myron Zeitler Family Memorial; Allyson Crandall and Gracie Nasgovitz were recipients of the Pound Woman's Club; The UW-Marinette Foundation awarded two scholarships this year to Jesse Meyer and Chloe Mongin; Jake Baldwin and Emily Cudnohosky from Oconto Electric Cooperative.

Also Kasey Casper, the Dorothy Kobus Memorial; Mason Risner and Caleb Gross got the Kalbes-Seewald American Legion Post #280 and Legion Auxiliary; KC awarded three scholarships to Emily Dufeck, Rebekah Lansin, and Chloe Mongin; Athalie Ann Van Vonderen was awarded to Kailey Klimek; Preston Gusick received the Julia Beaudoin Memorial; Coleman Pound Lions Club awarded scholarships to Brooklyn Seals and Chloe Mongin.

The Coleman-Pound Lioness Club awarded four scholarships this year to Jake Baldwin, Allyson Crandall, Gracie Nasgovitz, and Mason Risner; Jesse Meyer got the Country Visions Cooperative; The 2019 Frank and Ines Meleski Scholars were Chloe Mongin and Caleb Gross; The Garrett Peterson Memorial went to Kasey Casper; and The George and Carol Hansen Scholarships were awarded to Meghan Fraser and Bryce Karban.

Bay Area Medical Center Volunteer Services Scholarship recognized Kailey Klimek, Rebekah Lansin, Chloe Mongin, and Gracie Nasgovitz; The James & Shirley Neshek Scholarship went to Lauren Wittock; Caleb Gross received the Kelly Lake Scholarship; The Mariana Meissner Memorial Scholarship was presented to Kailey Klimek and Rebekah Lansin; and Emily Cudnohosky and Lauren Wittock received the Michael & Jamie Glish Scholarship for Musically Involved Students.

Logan Graetz was awarded the Northeast Wisconsin Deer Management Alliance; Peshtigo National Bank awards went to Elizabeth Henry and Gracie Nasgovitz; Jacob Zeitler got the Retired Teachers for Education Scholarship; Brooklyn Seals was awarded the Sara Murray Lambrecht Scholarship for Promising Young Women that is held at the M & M Area Community Foundation.

Jacob Zeitler received the Stephenson National Bank and Trust Louis W. Staudenmaier Scholarship; Jesse Meyer got the UW-Green Bay Virgil and Lorraine Thomson Memorial Endowed Scholarship; Preston Gusick received the Village Pharmacy Scholarship; The Cougar Country Business Association presented scholarships went to Jesse Meyer and Emily Cudnohosky; Hannah Weidner was awarded the Joseph and Lucille Charapata Scholarship.

Autumn Magee received the Ken Frydrych Memorial Award; The Red Cross awarded scholarships went to Maria Nowak and Madeline Wagner; Caleb Gross was the recipient of the ASCE Fox River Branch Engineering Scholarship; Rebekah Lansin was awarded the Coleman High School Achievement Scholarship and Allyson Crandall got the CHS Leadership Scholarship.

The Coleman Education Association awarded three scholarships to Elizabeth Henry, Emily Dufeck, and Brooklyn Seals; this year's Coleman School Board Scholarship recipient was Preston Gusick. Four Cougar Community Booster Club Scholarships went to Meghan Fraser, Bryce Karban, Rebekah Lansin, and Maria Nowak; Klondike Sportsmen's Club Scholarship went to Logan Graetz; The Libbie A. Zoglman Basketball Award went to Kailey Klimek.

The Furbish Fund Scholarships were awarded to Jesse Meyer and Chloe Mongin; Allyson Crandall was awarded the Oconto County Teaching Memorial Scholarship.; Maria Nowak earned the Wisconsin Technical Excellence Scholarship and Jesse Meyer earned the Academic Excellence Scholarship.

Special recognition awards included: Dakota Baars was recognized for his active military service in the Wisconsin National Guard; Brooklyn Seals for receiving the honor of the Young Philanthropist Award from the M & M Area Community Foundation; Kailey Klimek was honored for being a 2019 Herb Kohl Foundation Academic Excellence Scholarship recipient; The Burlsworth Leadership & Character Award recipient was Jacob Zeitler.2019 WIAA Scholar Athlete Awards went to Kailey Klimek and Caleb Gross.

Nine Seniors recognized for the Senior Athlete Awards were Mason Risner, Brock Martinson, Bryce Karban, Koltin Grzybowski, Caleb Gross, Kasey Casper, Maria Nowak, Rebekah Lansin, and Kailey Klimek. There were also six M & O Conference Achiever Award winners: Madeline Wagner, Maria Nowak, Kailey Klimek, Meghan Fraser, Robert Duckert, and Chloe Mongin.

Band recognition included: 7 semester and 8 semester awards: Emily Cudnohosky, Robert Duckert, Emily Dufeck, Rebecca Florencio, Jacob Hoffmann, Kailey Klimek, Rebekah Lansin, Gracie Nasgovitz, Maria Nowak, and Lauren Wittock; the Louis Armstrong Award to Kailey Klimek, the John Philip Sousa Award to Lauren Wittock, the Marine Corps Semper Fidelis Award for Music to Rebekah Lansin, the Most Valuable Player Award to Emily Cudnohosky, and the Spirit Award to Gracie Nasgovitz.

Trinity Franzen was the recipient of the Choir Award.

National Honor Society senior members recognized were Kasey Casper, Allyson Crandall, Emily Dufeck, Preston Gusick, Emily Cudnohosky, Robert Duckert, Meghan Fraser, Caleb Gross, Elizabeth Henry, Bryce Karban, Kailey Klimek, Rebekah Lansin, Jesse Meyer, Chloe Mongin, and Maria Nowak.

Students achieving an Academic Endorsement this year were Kasey Casper, Allyson Crandall, Emily Cudnohosky, Robert Duckert, Emily Dufeck, Rebecca Florencio, Meghan Fraser, Caleb Gross, Preston Gusick, Elizabeth Henry, Bryce Karban, Kailey Klimek, Rebekah Lansin, Jesse Meyer, Chloe Mongin, Gracie Nasgovitz, Seneth Powless, Mason Risner, Brooklyn Seals, Madeline Wagner, Lauren Wittock, and Jacob Zeitler. Students obtaining the Vocational Endorsement were Jake Baldwin, Logan Graetz, Bryce Karban, Autumn Magee, Brock Martinson, Jesse Meyer, Maria Nowak, Seneth Powless, Mason Risner, and Easton Ruiz.

Top 10 of the Class of 2019 are Allyson Crandall, Gracie Nasgovitz, Robert Duckert, Elizabeth Henry, Emily Cudnohosky, Meghan Fraser, Kailey Klimek, Chloe Mongin (Salutatorian), Preston Gusick (Salutatorian), and Jesse Meyer (Valedictorian).
