Menominee Fights Through Tough Week

Loss to Gladstone
The Menominee Red Wave Legion Baseball team took a tough loss to Gladstone last Wednesday night in Gladstone, 9-4.
Things did not start on a good note for the Red Wave as Gladstone's Cooper Cavadeas slammed a solo home run to get on the board in the first inning.
A lapse in counting resulted in Menominee's first run as the Gladstone guys began leaving the field after two outs. Knowing that there was still an out left Keagan Monroe sprinted home for the 1-1 tie.
The Indians of Gladstone then broke the game open with a huge momentum swing as Ian Schwalbach caused the games second home run. This one a three run homer for the 4-1 lead.
The bottom of the fourth saw another run added by the Gladstone guys before Menominee recovered in the fifth.
Buddy Beyer helped to put his Red Wave back on track when he hit a single to bring home Ethan Russell.
But Menominee could do little to stem the flow of Gladstone runners as the fifth resulted in a 9-2 readout by innings end.
Menominee narrowed the lead in the seventh with two runs scored. Scoring those two on a passed ball and a single from Keagan Monroe.
Taking the win on the mound for Gladstone was Frappier who struck out two while allowing nine hits, two walks and two runs.
Beyer was handed the loss for Menominee as he allowed seven hits, one walk,and five runs while striking out two.
Menominee Drops Two
in Weekend Tournament
The Menominee Red Wave hosted this years Mid-Pen conference tournament over the weekend and were given the boot after two matches. Menominee lost their first contest against Copper Country14-4 before losing to Negaunee 12-2.
Menominee looked good to start against Copper Country, getting an early 3-1 lead but soon found themselves on the wrong end of a blow out. Those three runs were obtained when Janquardt doubled to lead off followed by Alex Hanson on a single that brought him home.
Hanson scored before Buddy Beyer singled and scored.
Copper Country then put an eight run push over the next three innings to get the win 14-4.
Game two saw Menominee fall behind early, as Negaunee pushed across four runs over the first two innings.
Menominee got a couple runs across in the third inning when Hanson hit a lead off single. Beyer then hit a single followed by Jesus Bercerra who also hit a single , scoring runners for the 4-2 deficit. Agian Menominee was unable to continue the scoring as Negaunee came away with the 12-2 win.
Back On Track With
Win Over Esky
The Menominee Red Wave baseball team had a tough week of losses, that is up until Tuesday night when they traveled to Escanaba for a 4-0 win over the Esky boys.
Led off the game was Menominee's Jason Janquardt who walked, Alex Hansen was next, reaching base off an error while Keagan Monroe singled, loading the bases.
Buddy Beyer made a huge impact with his double that brought in Janquardt and Hanson for the 2-0 lead while Dante Sartorelli hit a single for another run. Beyer also crossed home in the inning for the 4-0 lead.
From that point on it was silent as neither team scored another run.
Alex Hanson took the win for Menominee allowing no hits, no runs and no walks while striking out one.
At the plate Menominee was led by Monroe with a one of two showing with a run. Sartorelli was one of three with an RBI while Beyer went one of three with two RBIs.
